Affiliate disclosure
How FashionScarlet earns money, how you can tell a commercial link from an ordinary one, and what commission does and doesn't change.
FashionScarlet is free to read. Some of the links we publish are affiliate links: if you follow one to a retailer and buy something, we may earn a commission from that retailer. You don't pay more because you came from us.
How to recognize them
- Buttons that take you to a retailer, such as "View at the retailer" or "See the current collection", are commercial links and are marked as such underneath.
- Articles that contain affiliate links carry a short note near the top saying so.
- Commercial links are tagged in the page code with
rel="sponsored", the standard way of telling search engines a link is commercial.
Links to sources, such as a brand's returns policy or a news report, are ordinary links and earn us nothing.
What commission doesn't change
We decide what to review, and what to conclude, before we consider whether a brand has an affiliate program. We publish reviews of brands we earn nothing from, and critical conclusions about brands we do. A brand can't pay for a review, a better verdict or homepage placement, and brands don't see reviews before they're published.
Our editorial standards are set out in full in our editorial policy.
Who we work with
Affiliate relationships are arranged through established affiliate networks and, occasionally, directly with retailers. A network or retailer relationship doesn't give anyone a say over our content.
Prices and availability
We don't print prices in reviews because they change too often to keep accurate. The price and stock shown on the retailer's site at the moment you buy are what count.
If anything about a commercial link on FashionScarlet is unclear, let us know.
